Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are all diagnosed with autism and non-verbal. They all benefit from continuous access and exposure to language and literacy in a way that appeals to their senses and unique learning styles.
Having an iPad in a protective case with a familiar language software program would allow ample opportunity for my students to communicate with each other and staff.
The language software would allow my students to greet people, making requests, affirm/deny, comment and ask and answer questions. In addition to the language software, I plan on installing the Lexia reading program app to use during center work. This program not only fosters literacy skills at their level, it tracks student progress and send data reports directly to the teacher. Having this technology would provide my students with the auditory, visual, and tactile experiences they need so their literacy, language and social skills continue to flourish.
