Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
During Distance Learning I have been struggling with my classes. I teach Physical Education and my classes range from 50-55 students. It was hard to get them to learn sports in their homes, away from peers, and adequate equipment!
We are finally back to school.
We are excited to learn all sports. I would like to request tennis racquets! We don’t have tennis courts but we do have a large basketball court area where I plan to teach my 150-155 students the sport of tennis!
They can learn and I can teach, all I need are racquets and tennis balls. I would like to receive 60 racquets. With that amount I can have all my students practice the beautiful sport of tennis and maybe have them join our schools tennis team and bring up the caliber of our team. In the end they will learn a sport that’s not so popular like soccer or basketball.
My Project
My P.E. students are not exposed to other sports besides the traditional basketball and soccer. I would like to open up their world to the sport of tennis. I need racquets to get them to play and learn a lifelong sport they can use into their elder stages in life.
Once I get their hands into a racquet, I know they will fall in love with tennis.
Tennis is a sport can be played in small groups, with friends on a weekend, and a sport that is not so popular in the the Latino community that our school is in. We are already at a disadvantage for not having tennis courts. Our community will thrive in learning a new sport that they can practice with these requests.
