Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in our school are taught leadership skills, team building skills, and participate in a variety of after-school clubs. Our children are of migrant families who toil in the fields all day and pick up their loved ones at six . We have students from kinder to sixth grade, and most all our students come from low-income families, the so called "at-risk", but I like to call "at-possible"community.
Our students are eager to learn, courageous, teachable and infinitely grateful for what they have.
Our scholars walk to and from school and see education as a way out of poverty turning their dreaming into doing. Students are served breakfast, lunch, and dinner during a normal day and have the option to participate in a club after school such as; photography, sports, yoga, art, and computer. Students at our school are hungry for life and inspired to be our next generation of leaders. We are becoming a national role model in preparing rural children for wise leadership.
My Project
Teaching badminton and tennis fundamentals in Physical Education class are important for young people. Badminton and Tennis teach our kids confidence, discipline, fitness and a lifetime sport.
Badminton and Tennis are great individual sports to be taught at an early age.
The rackets and foam balls will help create a successful learning atmosphere in our Physical Education classes. Ups, downs and flip flops are good lead up skills I can teach. The portable nets will help get a feel for actual game play on our small instructional outdoor play area. The band balls are excellent for eye hand coordination when teaching the serve in tennis.
