My students need ten frames to help them build number sense.

My Students

My kindergarten students are part of a unique, diverse classroom. I teach in a Title I school, where over 60% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. I also have a high population of ELL and special education students in my room.

In my classroom, each student is recognized for the potential they have and I work hard at making our classroom a community where all students can learn.

I work closely with other teachers to help meet the needs of the students.

My Project

Kindergarten students love hands on learning. By having a ten frame carpet, students will be able to be a part of the learning. Students will be able to make numbers through ten by standing on the carpet and recognizing the number of students on the ten frame.

Students love being a part of their own learning.

Students will be able to have their own ten frame to practice making numbers which will help engagement for each student. This will also help me quick check for understanding.

The materials in this project will allow for different activities from teacher modeling, to individual guided practice, to students being part of their own math. Each item will be used to improve students understanding of numbers through ten.
