Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching Kindergartners to understand the number concept is pretty challenging. It's like pulling teeth when it comes to part, part, and whole: Which part is missing or how many more to reach a number.
My school is a small, Title I school where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program.
Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English language learners, speaking English as their second language. My Kindergarten students come to school daily eager to learn.
My Project
With these magnetic ten frame dry erase boards, my students will be able to practice adding, subtracting, and making numbers using double sided magnetic counters. They can also write their equations on the bottom line, using dry erase markers and share their work by lifting up their board. With the virtual CD that comes with the classroom set, I will be able to show how to manipulate the counters using my Smart Board.
Having these ten frame boards would boost up my students' number sense and also make learning math so much fun!
It would be a wonderful tool to have in any classroom.
Please consider making a donation to my project. It wouldn't be possible without supporters like you!
