Help me give my students literature that values the diverse voices of the immigrant experience.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Chavez's classroom raised $473

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students will learn about the immigrant experience through literature such as Front Desk and other read aloud titles including My Diary From Here to There, Paper Son, and Lakas. Students will share their family's stories as they relate to their own experiences with immigration or family history. They will compare and contrast the stories from the literature with their own and we will have many opportunities for discussion and making connections in historical context.
“Every American who ever lived, with the exception of one group, was either an immigrant himself or a descendant of immigrants.” - John F.
