This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school serves students grades Pre-K through fifth. My school is located in an area of Arkansas that could be considered in need of repairs. More than 90% of our students participate in a free or reduced-rate lunch program.
Because money is in short supply, I am always looking for ways to help bring exciting new materials into the classroom.
My students have limited experiences, so projects like these help me make learning come to life. These experiences will help my students develop a love for learning.
My Project
My students are learning to read and write and want to be authors and illustrators themselves! To help them become authors and illustrators, I am requesting various sizes of construction paper that they can use to create book covers for their own books. They will use the crayons I am requesting and other art supplies to illustrate their stories. After they have finished their books, they can create puppets to allow other students to “retell” their stories! This project will allow my students to get their creative juices flowing! Please help me bring this project to life for my students!
