My Students

Our students, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, attend a public high school, and the majority of students, approximately fifty percent, live in poverty. We are a small school of less than six hundred, and approximately sixty percent of the students are open enrollment, leading to less funding from the state.

We have a diverse population of students, as many students from the big city seek our school for greater opportunities.

Our students are eager for opportunities and want to learn about life. I want to give them those opportunities.

My Project

Our school currently has zero televisions screens in the building for our students. This television would be mounted in the student lounge/cafeteria area so students can stay up to date on news or enjoy other media outlets during their lunch hours and after school. This television will open up more opportunities for students who do not have access to this type of media outside of the school day. It will also offer students who need a break a place to relax. The smart t.v. will be used for news, media, streaming, and music. This will impact our student environment and culture in a positive way.
