This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students with Autism are dynamic and unique.
Each one is special in his or her own way demonstrating strengths and abilities through their academic work, acquired and developing skills and their individual personalities.
Students within my Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program experience growth and success in meaningful ways that further their academic ability and personal development.
Although many of my students struggle with obstacles in everyday life, they continue to move forward. It is my belief that in creating opportunities for the learning of academic, functional living, self-care, and in inter-& intra-personal skills my student will be one step closer to academic success, personal growth, and independence.
My Project
The recreation equipment I am requesting will promote social skills in a new adapted setting. Transforming an average classroom into a game based recreation room within our school will help to promote life long relationships for our students.
Building social skills through foosball, ping pong, board games, basketball, and darts will give my students the tools they need to advance their social skills outside of an educational setting.
This room will be a safe place for ALL students. As part of my students' personal development, we will be installing this equipment together to learn more life skills. Following step by step direction, my students will learn to assemble and use the equipment to promote social interaction and development.
