Teens Need Snacks to Learn

My Project

My students are amazing youth. They have dealt with attending school online for sixth grade and missed the last part of their fifth grade year. They have dealt with Covid-19, community violence and all the typical stressors of middle school. Sometimes, these challenges affect their motivation and desire to be in a classroom or school space. When I have a variety of snacks, it is amazing to see how offering a snack can change their perspective and mood. My snack supply is very low, and since we’re getting into winter, darker days and cold, I need to replenish my snacks to help us all stay focused, engaged and willing to face new learning and life challenges.
