Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.
I teach Pre-K.
I will serve 16 students for the 2021-2022 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 80% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals.
When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.
Children make my classroom their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family.
My students use iPads daily.
They use headphones to minimize distractions and can fully concentrate on their literacy and math programs.
The students work on Imagine Learning, Waterford and ABC mouse.
The students have been complaining lately that the headphones do not work. After checking each one of them, I concluded that it was the audio cables that are no longer working. Therefore, we need to replace them.
This will help us continue to integrate technology in the classroom while keeping the noise level down. That way the students in the other work stations can concentrate as well.
