My students need to be able to have access to technology. by getting this technology in our classroom we can expand upon their educational experiences and give them a chance to learn before going to kindergarten.
I teach at a Title I school in Kentucky where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. At my school we serve children Pre-K - 8th grade. I am one of two preschool teachers in the building, and we are continuing to grow with numbers. Our children range from ones with severe disabilities to a typical functioning/developing child ages 3-5. In our district our school is continuing to grow and improve on our end of the year outcomes with testing and end of year exams. My goal is to make the children want to continue learning and enjoy school as the years go by.
As the year goes on the children in my classroom become "my" children, I love them like they are my own.
I enjoy playing games, doing small group activities, and being a big kid again with my little ones. Each day my children are eager to come to school and see what they are going to learn today!
My Project
Letting the children explore different types of technology. Currently we are limited to an old desktop computer, which only works half the time. The children are having a hard time using the mouse because of their hands being so small. By using the I-pad in the classroom, the children can access educational app to enhance the learning being taught in the classroom. One of my favorite apps/fames I like to use on an I-pad is ABC Mouse! The children love to go into the site and play while learning. One of the comments I have received from the kindergarten teachers, is they wish they preschoolers coming to them would have a little more technology back ground. By having an iPad this will allow the students to gain that knowledge of how to use this technology as they continue their education.
