My students need a Listening Center, Overhead Projector, and In Focus machine so they have better access to the curriculum and better resources to aide them with English.
Can you imagine sitting in a classroom being so excited to learn, but the tools that are necessary for you to be successful are not there?
I am a teacher in a public school that is located in an urban district.
My classroom consists of 21 students, 17 of which are English Language Learners. My students all have varying levels of English ranging from completely understanding spoken and written English, to not understanding any English at all. The majority of the students are Spanish speaking and are embracing the opportunity of helping their peers learn how to speak and write in English,
My Project
The resources I am asking for will have a huge impact in the education of my ELLs and general education students. I will be able to create a listening center in my classroom where they can hear spoken English and follow along with the different books that are being read by their peers. The In Focus machine will allow me to show videos that will reinforce different concepts that are part of our curriculum. The overhead projector will be invaluable in having students show and explain their work/strategies to their classmates. It will also help them follow along with the different classroom activities such as different language exercises and math assignments.

Aside from text books my students have very little technology and materials at their fingertips. By not having to borrow materials from other teachers, I will be able to put supports in place where my ELL students can have better access to the tools that will make learning easier for them.
