This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When I look at my school population of students, the one thing I notice is how culturally diverse they are. I have students who come from Mexico, Africa, Asia, and Polynesian Islands. I work at a Title I school where 91% of the students qualify to receive free lunch.
Most of my students come from low-income homes where they experience many struggles daily and don't have individualized learning opportunities using technology to help them succeed!
Our school is moving towards becoming a STEM school. I need to be able to do my part in providing higher level learning which is why these computers are so important as an addition to my classroom. These laptops will allow students to create individualized learning spaces to help them focus on their STEM studies, rather than other distractions in the class. I can tailor these devices to enhance their specific learning requirements and download programs to enhance their STEM learning experiences.
I provide free tutoring for the afterschool program as well. These computers will also be used to help all my students get caught up in classes they are needing extra time and help on.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
