Ms. P. from Miami FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these iPad Mini 4s to pass their online state FSA and SAT tests (a requirement to graduate) and hit the ground running into their brighter, more positive futures!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Many of my students come from low-income situations - some are homeless, some are foster children, some work to support their families while going to school, and many come from single-parent homes. 75.3% of students at my school qualify to receive free lunch through the National School Lunch program.
An incredible group of students, their courage to face their lives is quite inspiring, and keeps me thinking every waking minute about how I can help them overcome their educational and life challenges.
I am a recently hired teacher, teaching mainly low-income 11th graders who are struggling hard to pass the online state FSA exams, a requirement for graduating. Some of them do not have technology at home or even a cell phone in class. (Some are homeless; some are foster children; some come from single-parent families.)
We have no computers in our classroom, and my "Spartan Dream Achievers" need to be able to take the online state FSA practice tests before their tests at the end of February and March.
In addition, our school district has partnered with Khan Academy, which gives students access to reading, writing and grammar practice lessons and videos online - a necessary component to helping them to not only pass the FSA, but to score higher on their ACT/SAT tests.
With iPad minis, I can utilize digital resources to help them understand the many complex literature and informational text analysis concepts they need to pass the tests — digital resources such as instructional online media, Nearpod, Kahoot, Edmodo, Remind, NoRedInk.com, and Khan Academy.
The clock is ticking and we haven't much time! Please help me to help them have at chance at overcoming their very challenging circumstances. We thank you so much!
