This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Just because they are unable to speak does not mean they have nothing to say! Please help our students with limited speech and non verbal ones to communicate through the use of technology such as a laptop.
I am a Special Day Program teacher (grades 3-5) with a class of six students with moderate to severe Autism.
My students have unique behavioral, sensory, and academic needs. The majority of my students have cognitive delays and behaviors that impact their ability to access the core curriculum and meet grade level standards in all academic areas to such degree that their instruction is based on the alternate curriculum. My students try hard. They are special and amazing who need you helps.
My Project
Many children within the Autism spectrum love the computer. With your help, providing then with a laptop will assist our students in so many ways. It will enhance their learning just because as a teaching tool, laptop keep my students engaged, motivated and focused and therefore more open to learn. With lots of educational soft wares and learning programs available for access, my students will have the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings through pictures and words. This will also promote life skills such as word typing/data entry as a long term pre-vocational goal. How exciting! Please help me make a difference in my students’ lives by giving them this technology tool they need!
Your support with this project will help my students tremendously to learn important life skills such as communicating their thoughts and feelings besides verbal language.
