My students need 5 Chromebooks and 5 student management consoles to replace the unusable laptops that we have been using on a daily basis for the past 8 years.
We are a Title 1 school, with 40% of our students on free and reduced lunch. In my classroom, there are many students who have gone through way too much for their age. They have endured through loss of siblings, homelessness, abandonment, and so much more. Bags of food are delivered to many students weekly. In addition, there are several special needs students in my class. All of these students would benefit from having access to technology. I truly believe that technology is one of the best motivators for these kids to increase their learning, and give them the best education possible.
My Project
Technology is a must. In a world where technology is a part of every aspect of our lives, students need to be exposed at an early age in order feel confident, be innovative, and to become problem solvers. With these devices, students will once again have access to internet, giving them the ability to use Google Classroom to create presentations, complete assignments and speeches, collaborate with others, and use learning websites to enhance their education. With these devices, we can increase learning in every subject area. An added bonus is, with these devices, our classroom can reduce our paper consumption as many assignments are digital. In addition, parents have access to their child's work.
Students are so much more interested in learning when they can use technology to complete work.
I have seen the benefits of having technology for each student for the last 8 years, and cannot imagine having to revert back to a classroom with limited access. Please help us to stay current, stay above the fold, and gives these kids a head start to reaching their potential.
