This school year, I teach first grade and my group of students are ages 6 and 7. I will be looping with these students again next year into the second grade. These students live in an area of southwest Florida that is often lacking empathy for the diverse populations who live here. My classroom demographic is made up of diverse ethnicity and economic status. The students I teach speak many languages and come from many different places. By promoting different types of learning, including visual learning, these students will shine. I want to offer as many different types of learning to help my students succeed. Introducing technology and digital projects creates an opportunity for students to stay up to pace with education and work places in the future.
I want my students to have opportunities that promote learning and success.
My Project
In this project, I am requesting two iPads for our classroom. In our classroom we use our classroom technology to access information and practice skills on educational software. We are currently transitioning into a Project-based learning classroom.
Students having iPads available would better allow for research, building, and sharing projects on a digital platform.
Students will use programs to help create presentations such as papers, slideshows, and videos. Having the opportunity to use technology daily prepares students for a future that is becoming increasingly more digital. Not only will my students have access to resources online, practice with digital content, but they will be able to share their creations with their parents and other students more easily.
