My students need electronic tablets, with protective covers and cases, in order to access online learning resources and prepare themselves for an innovative technology driven world.
It's that time of year when I start getting excited for a whole new group of incredible kiddos. August is when I love thinking and getting re-inspired about how to best connect with every child, every family, in order to set the foundation with a great start to our year together.
In Kindergarten, I work hard to establish strong family connections to build confident, independent, and innovative learners.
Many of our families (78%) are in need of financial help and assistance. As standards have increased in academic rigor, many of our students come into kindergarten already working below grade level expectations. It is so important that I do everything that I can to make sure that all of these kids have the opportunity to grow, create, learn, and succeed regardless of their starting level. This is where we need your help.
The families and kids in our learning community are amazing!!! The budget quickly gets spread thin and for years these kids have been without the technology and tools to help propel them into a life of innovation and possibility. I hope you will think about donating so these kids can blast into the year full STEAM ahead.
My Project
A set of tablets in a classroom, especially a classroom of young learners, is a game changer! These devices can be used to practice and strengthen skills being taught using a variety of online resources and apps. However, I appreciate these tools even more for the endless opportunities they offer children in exploring areas of interest in learning and play. Children are growing up in a technological world and often have the navigational skills to operate tablets and touchscreen devices. Yet, with up to 25 students in a classroom, and 1 teacher, it can be quite a challenge to guide each and every student to the endless number of questions that come up in a school day. Imagine if they had the tools to investigate, find an answer/solution, and repeat. Incredible!
With these tablets, my students will be able to find the answers they seek, practice STEM and literacy skills, and become stronger problem solvers, collaborators, and teachers.
I look forward to seeing students ask a question then quickly realize they have the tools and the skills to seek out the answer to their question. I see a room full of students sharing their excitement as they make new discoveries, while at the same time teaching others how to do the same. The addition of these tablets to my classroom will provide students so many opportunities to grow academically and socially.
Please consider donating to this project. A project that will bring tech tools to little hands and students full of big wonders.
