My Students

I work with low income families. To see the look on their faces when you introduce them to something new is priceless. The joy they get from learning new things daily is a great feeling. Our families are unable to help with items that we need in class to do a great project. Our school is located in Knoxville and most of our families and kids live around violence daily. I would like to give them as many good experiences as I can while teaching them daily. Receiving materials to help with this concept would help them tremendously.

My Project

The tablets will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way will be choosing their own game to learn letter sounds, how to trace and write letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. Another way will be recording the results of an experiment. Since it's winter we are working on ice and how it's created and how it dissolves when put in various places (fridge, window, etc). They will be able to take pictures of their experiments. Each group could compare their progress with each other by looking at pictures. These will also help close the gap with the shortage of technology in our class.
