This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The majority of my students are mainly ESOL (English as a second language). Their parents are mainly immigrants from Hispanic countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, and Nicaragua. A part of our daily schedule is small groups. I would like a technology component to this part of our day by adding one more iPad. This would help them develop more language and phonological skills as well as math skills. They would be better prepared for Kindergarten by adding this activity to their instructional time.
My students are very eager to learn.
Every morning we discuss our daily plan and they are always so excited to work with the iPads but we need more. They even asked if Santa could bring some.
My Project
Technology is implemented as early as age 2. We need an iPad which will benefit pre-K students by providing more opportunities to introduce different types of technology. These will enhance learning in pre-K in such areas as phonological awareness and math.
My students will be better prepared for Kinder if they are provided opportunities to further develop their skills by using iPads to enrich lessons during small group.
They will also be able to learn quicker and more effectively as they develop more vocabulary. This will also provide them with more self confidence. I am confident that together we can make a difference in their lives.
