Technology Protecting Their Future

Help me give my students Chromebooks to use for digital media projects in our visual arts class. These computers would help our 21st century students learn how to use technology to create works of art.

My Students

Our school is a very diverse student population. We are spread across the spectrum of highly rich doctors' and lawyers' children to families who barely have a home. School is "home"or the safety net of them. Within this range we have a little from all areas of students that come to art class. At least 5 students come to us for help with purchasing supplies that are required for the course.

Many of our students, who really work hard, no matter their background or home life; will make something of themselves.

We want to help these students become the best they can by equipping them with the materials that they need to continue their journey to a better life.

My biggest goal is to teach these students that being creative innovative thinkers will help them in anything they do in their lives. These students appreciate the extra effort we put forth to give them something nice, when they do not always have someone that is able or willing to help them out at home.

My Project

These chromebooks would help my students learn the skill of creating digital media in visual arts. The students could learn these skills in hopes to help them find jobs. As well, expose them to media that would help them out later in life. We currently share computer carts with other teachers that don't all work. As well, being a non-core course, we seem to be assigned the older, more used devices.

We hope with these devices in our classroom can help our students learn how to use more digital media in the growing world of technology.

As they graduate from our high school, our goal is to have students who have been exposed to many different visual arts trades. These trades can be the one thing some of these students can find they are successful at. I understand not all my students are college bond, nor have the resources at home. My main goal as a teacher is to help my students find one thing that they are good at or can feel they are successful in; inside and outside of my classroom. The gaining of this experience and exposure to different aspects of art that could maybe help them out in life later as well with finding jobs.
