Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are lively, confident children. They are mostly ESE and ELL students. The community the school is located in is a very needy area. Although not far from an affluent area, it lacks all the benefits from it.
The students qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
The school is a Title I school. Students attend this school from nursery through high school. The students are constantly in need of supplies. The financial needs of their families are so great that at times, it is impossible for them to bring them to school.
My Project
As an educator in a high needs Title 1 school with students in dire need of supplies and support, technology helps bridge the gap between what is taught and what is learned. Technology is essential to help my students learn how to utilize it to obtain information, organize information, present information, and understand information in all subject areas. Having these iPads accessible provides that needed tool to engage all students no matter what their learning styles may be. It will also motive learning and prepare them academically so that in the near future, this technology will pave the way for them to be able to compete with their counterparts in affluent neighborhood schools.
