My Students
"Failure is not an option. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Created for a special purpose. I refuse to lose, I refuse to be defeated. When the world says give up, hope whispers,"Try again." All we ever have is now, therefore failure is not an option for me!" The above affirmation is recited by the students, preceded by 15 seconds of mediation before class begins daily. I tell them that you are who you believe you will become. This affirmation sets the tone and expectations of the class.
I teach at a Title I school in Atlanta, where majority of the students are children from low S.E.C.
and they do not always have access to technology. They are eager and willing to learn. In my classroom, I foster an environment conducive for learning where students believe and become everything they desire to be.
My Project
The students will use the tablets for small group remediation and for lesson extensions. They will be able to have specialized instruction equivalent to their area of needs or giftedness or special needs. They will have quick and easy access to math sites and tutorial programs, and video tutorials.
If the items are received, it gives way for increased knowledge through one-on-one tutoring for several students simultaneously.
It makes differentiation easier and perhaps more effective. It will also equip the students with supplies which will enable them to compete with other students near and around the world. Please help them to become a 21st century classroom.
