Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a fourth grade teacher at a Title I school. My class is made up of 27 wonderfully diverse bilingual students. Some students just arrived from other countries, some do not speak English at all, and some have been in our school since an early age. My students are very caring and helpful to each other because they understand the needs that everyone has.
This year some of my students had to deal with leaving their homes to go live with other family members due to Harvey's flooding.
I receive my students with excitement and warmth every day to try and relief some stress from them.
My Project
This project will help my students to grow academically. The advantage of using technology in my classroom is that every individual works at their own pace. They do not feel the pressure to perform as fast as the rest of the class while working on their own. My students will invest more time in the learning process, rather feeling insecure on their performances.
My students will deeply benefit using Chromebooks in the classroom when using remedial programs available to cut gaps in their learning.
If my project is funded, my students will be at a great advantage, academically and linguistically. Chromebooks will work as a great assistance to second language learners because of the different tools they can use, such as reading text, text to speech, screen filters, screencastify to record work, and many other.
I thank you in advance for your generosity to our future generations.
