Mrs. Krajnak from Cleveland OH is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As our nation begins to teach the new Common Core standards, technology is a requirement for all of our students' success in order to prepare them for college, the workforce, and our global economy.
My students are made up of some pretty unique adolescents.
The 6th graders are getting their first tastes of freedom outside of elementary and the 8th graders are getting "senioritis" as they prepare for high school. However, they all come from inner city Cleveland and face similar challenges. They don't let their "profile" dictate who they are. In fact they see their race and socio-economic status as a reason to fight harder to prove to society that they can and will be succeed in education and in life.
The use of a projector and speakers is the first step in getting our students acclimated with technology in the classroom. It allows for interactive lessons, videos, and Power Points that allow them to get away from pencil to paper and enforces advanced thinking. All of these technological skills will be needed as the government has changed all standardized testing into computer-based exams beginning in the 2014 school year. We have a lot of catching up to do! Our scores prove that we are successful thus far in our academic content, but we all fear that our technology skills are lacking.
This project is important because technology is no longer the future.
It is the present. Kids, parents, businesses, and competing schools are using all sorts of technology on a day-to-day basis. It isn't fair that our students are behind due to lack of funding. This project would be the first step in fixing the gap!
