Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I choose to blaze a new path: one where my students will thrive.

My students attend a wonderfully diverse community school. We have a large special needs population, many English as second language learners, and a majority of our students qualify for free or reduced-price school lunch, indicating an economic disadvantage.

Despite all of the challenges facing my school and students we have improved test scores greatly in the past few years. We are recognized by the state of Louisiana as a top gains school and have earned a grade of A the past three years on our school report card.

My Project

Everyday in our centers we utilize individualized math learning programs such as iReady, prodigygame.com, and xtramath.org. We also take our weekly tests on Chromebooks to help prepare for our online state testing. My students need a chromebook and a pair of headphones.

This Chromebook will allow my students to work at their own level at a pace not offered by other resources.

With my students coming to me on so many different levels, this chromebook really allows for targeted instruction to remediate any deficits and to provide enrichment opportunities. Getting this Chromebook will allow more students to be able to receive this valuable instruction on a daily basis, rather than having to wait for a turn on a Chromebook. The headphones will allow for the students to be able to hear and concentrate on what they are working on and block out what is happening around them.
