As a teacher to 80 fifth graders, many with special needs, I always like to look for new ways to teach math. We like to learn in lots of different ways.
My students like to use technology for learning.
I like it because it seems like playtime for my students. But students will be using this new technology to improve their math skills! With apps like Simply Fractions, Math Quest Quiz and Math Rush, students will be able to improve their math abilities and have fun at the same time!
My Project
When this project is fully funded, I will be able to use these devices as a safe and effective way for math fact and skill practice.
Technology usage in the classroom engages students and creates active learners.
Students receive self-directed learning and become active participants. It encourages individual learning and growth because students can learn at their own pace. Technology can facilitate peer collaboration.
When in small groups, students who already have certain computer and technology skills can assist less tech savvy peers. The technology world is growing. It is quickly becoming a part of everyday life. Teaching students how to use technology to learn, collaborate, and solve problems will better prepare them for their future careers. Students won’t need to huddle around a desktop or be required to share a small device. I know my students will be thrilled with new technology and I can’t wait to get started with my math workshop!
