My students need 4 Chromebooks, with EDU Google Chrome consoles and headphones, to extend their learning and provide new ways to practice their learning in Math and Science.
I instruct both 5th and 6th grade students in Math and Science. We have a new curriculum that can integrate technology into instruction, but we do not have the necessary materials to access that technology in our classroom.
My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, positive, and extremely bright and intelligent.
They are creative and funny, and surprise me every day with their flexible thinking and the kindness they show to others. Our school encourages these qualities of responsibility, effort, and empathy. We hold students to high expectations and provide them with the support they need to succeed. We would love to provide them with all the materials they might need to do well, but sometimes things like budgets get in the way. In a world that is constantly changing in regards to technology, it is my hope that this project will help to fund a set of Chromebooks to be used in small group workshop time, in order to give students practice in becoming digital citizens and access to online curriculum.
My Project
By using the Chromebooks and the EDU Google Chrome platforms, students will be able to access online curriculum materials and educational websites to practice concepts and strategies learned in both Math and Science classes. Students will practice their writing skills by responding to and creating their own Google docs forms, to explain what they know about mathematical concepts and scientific theories. Students will collaborate with each other in pairs and small groups to discuss how math and science are a part of their daily lives.
The Chromebooks will allow my students to collaborate and learn on a digital level.
This is so important to my students, as they will be required to work more and more with technology as they move through the rest of their school years and into subsequent higher education and career opportunities. The Chromebooks will also motivate those reluctant learners who feel more engaged and excited to learn when using technology. Your donations will help us start to build a classroom of digital citizens.
