Technology Must Haves for the Elementary Music Classroom

My Students
My creative and energetic students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. There are many students that have traveled from traditional native communities, Hmong, Samoan and Hispanic backgrounds. They all come to my school eager to learn even though just getting in the door of our school can be a challenge. Most of my students come from low income households and school is the safest place for them to be.
My students also come from the joint military base of Fort Richardson and Elmendorf (JBer).
Many are dealing with deployment issues and are being raised by a single parent. There are issues of separation anxiety an the fear of Mom or Dad not returning. Music helps them express their feelings.In my music room the students are limited only by their imagination. But we need some more things. They want to explore music and use it to express things about themselves and what they are learning.
My Project
Technology is always changing and I am working to keep up in the music room. Being able to use the latest speakers, microphones and wireless devices will help me create more engaging and interesting lessons for my students. They will benefit my students by my ability to move around the music room and work individually with students as they are listening and viewing music.
Today's music room uses all types of technology and my room is a bit behind.
My current speaker is over 13 years old. It often shuts off and I have to go to the system and reboot it.
On those days when my voice is gone I can use the wireless microphone to help with vocal health. It can also be added to my microphone system that I currently have for musical performances and presentations.
