My Students
My kindergartners are a diverse group of Bronx students. They all share a strong desire to learn. Many of them come from low income families who struggle to make ends meet, even so the kids are so enthusiastic! They know when they walk through the doors of our school that they are cared for. Many come in hungry, tired, and sometimes sad and upset. It is not an easy task developing the language and skills of such a diverse group. Some are English language learners, while others have had limited experiences—which limits their language and ability to make connections to topics covered in school. They often get frustrated and upset when they struggle to complete tasks.
With the support of a passionate teacher and caring peers, they know that giving up is never an option in our kindergarten classroom!
My Project
We are the future and we are living in the world of technology. Help us to achieve our short and long term goals by adding an additional iPad to our classroom.
Through technology we will improve our phonemic awareness, reading and math skills.
We will be able to utilize our iPads during center times to log in to our schools interactive sites that are geared toward helping us to become independent readers, writers and thinkers.
We become engaged in learning when we are afforded with rich opportunities to utilize technology in our learning each day. Learning is fun when we have access to all modalities of learning!
