it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school, we believe in empowering our students with the tools they need to excel in mathematics and beyond.
Our goal with this project is to provide 10 graphing calculators for use in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 classes.
Making a Difference in Learning:
Graphing calculators are essential for visualizing complex mathematical concepts. Algebra students study many types of functions; graphing calculators bring these functions to life. Students can easily see the relationship between a graph, an equation, and a table, helping them gain a deeper understanding of Algebra. This visual clarity boosts engagement and interest in mathematics, especially for students with learning disabilities.
Project Goals:
Our primary goal is to ensure that each student has equitable access to essential learning tools. These calculators facilitate hands-on exploration and experimentation, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
Some schools require that every student purchase their own graphing calculator. Most of our students' families have limited financial resources and cannot afford to buy graphing calculators. Instead of only some students having access to the technology, this project can help ensure that each student is empowered with necessary math tools.
What Makes Our Students Special:
Our students come from diverse backgrounds and possess a range of learning styles and math experiences. We serve the community of Beacon Hill and the greater South Seattle area, which includes many ethnicities and immigrant communities. Across their differences, Cleveland students share a common enthusiasm for learning and a determination to succeed. Providing them with resources like graphing calculators empowers them to achieve their academic goals and prepare for future challenges.
