Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Second grade students from four classrooms come to see me each week and work on advanced academics.
Title I school with high mobility.
Most students receive free and reduced lunches.
We are a trauma informed school and teach a lot of students who deal with trauma in their lives. Many students are English language learners and school is a safe, inviting place to build relationships and community.
Students want to learn and like to use technology. They are eager to try new things and often teach me something new.
My Project
We received iPads this year but do not have an organized way to charge them. This creates a mess with cords and chargers and it is not safe.
Wire letter holders will hold the iPads in place while charging the iPads and keep wires from getting tangled.
This will make charging faster and safer.
Hands-on pattern block activities will help with spatial problem solving before moving to programs on the iPad using similar shapes. This will help make the transition smoothly. I will be able to expand math understanding using high-interest materials. This will be fun and educational for the students.
