My students need laptops so that they can complete their required computer programs. They also could use these computers to be able to do mobile research in small groups.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in fifth grade gifted and/or the 5th grade Extended Foreign Language program. They come from warm and caring families. Two-thirds of my students have recently exited the ESOL (English Second Language Learner) program in the past year.
My students are energetic learners that learn best when they are given the opportunity to move and explore different learning settings.
Specifically, they love to express themselves and take an active role in the learning process. In addition, all of my fifth graders are looking forward to applying to a magnet school of their choice at the end of this school year. They are looking forward to challenging themselves even more as they embark on their next educational adventure and I want to send them off ready to accept any challenges that await them.
My Project
These materials will help my students create easier essays and digital projects. They will also be able to complete their online assessments in an efficient manner.
These computers will also facilitate the ease of small group projects and research.
Each group will be able to move about the classroom with ease and produce high quality end products. My students love to use technology to complete their assignments but our access to computers in class is very limited. These laptops would relieve some of the difficulties in accessing computers to do their work. Furthermore, being able to consistently use laptops will better prepare my students for the work force.
