My students love technology, especially when they get to use it in class. Lecture-heavy lessons are not as engaging as hands-on activities.
My students absolutely adore being able to do their work on Chromebooks and utilize any type of technology.
They love projects where they get to learn how to use programs such as Google Slides for presentations, Google Drawings for online sketches of their designs, and websites like Spelling City and Quizlet to study information. Their engagement and curiosity is abundantly increased when I introduce technology into their assignments.
My Project
My students will use these new classroom Chromebooks for many things. We will take our spelling tests and reading assessments each week on them. We will do math games that reinforce what we are learning, take math assessments, and practice our math fact fluency on them. With these Chromebooks, my students will do Lexia and i-Ready; these are amazing reading and math programs to help students fill in gaps in their learning. We will use them to do social studies research projects as well as to take notes on what we are learning. We will use them to research and do our writing projects this year.
Two new Chromebooks will allow me to have every student in my class able to use a working Chromebook at the same time!
Right now, I have one Chromebook that has died, and one that is literally breaking apart. This makes it difficult to have everyone working on a Chromebook at the same time. More classroom Chromebooks will definitely give my students the ability to do their best work each day in class and not have to worry about the Chromebook they are using!
