Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are willing to reach the galaxy instead of the moon. As a teacher in a low income/ high poverty area, my students are faced with several different challenges in and out of the classroom. As these challenges are a constant reminder of our day to day lives, my goal is for my student to go to college and reach their dreams. As technology is a skill needed to be college ready, I want my students to grow in their computer skills by using several programs that will help them be college ready. Many of my students believe that they are not college ready and it is my job to change that and make them know that they are. There is a digital divide between my school and others, and I know that if my students are exposed to technology, they will benefit greatly from it.

My Project

By having Chromebooks in my classroom, it will allow different structures of learning in my classroom, especially when being involved and in STEM, STEAM and Project-based learning activities.

Giving low income students access to the digital world will be a key for college readiness.

I will be able to use the laptops to collaborate with one another using Google docs and drawing. They will be able to research online on information needed to complete an informational book. They would be able to create bridges using blueprints through Google drawing to plan out how to create one in the classroom as a STEAM activity. The students will be able to access online libraries to enhance their reading abilities. This grant will help them be a step closer on being college ready.
