My students need iPads and headphones. Technology is the path to our future. Technology captures the heart of children and if students are eager to engage, they will learn.
Second graders are the best! Each and every morning, my students come to school wanting to learn. They're anxious to engage in every subject, in hopes of reaching their learning goals.
Our campus has a very unique population of students that speak over forty different languages.
Our campus has children that come from all over the World. Many of these children's parents work at NASA. Many of these children need to be challenged in order to stay engaged in their learning.
My classroom has an array of students from one end of the spectrum to the other end . I have students that need support in Reading, yet soar in Math. I have students that are gifted, some that need extra support, and some that need emotional support.
My students are highly motivated when learning is fun- interacting with technology, group projects and hands on projects.
My Project
We integrate technology throughout the day in my classroom. We use iPads during Math stations and Literacy Stations. The iPad and Computer Station is definitely their favorite, most beneficial station. Students use their ipads and headphones to increase Math skills and Reading skills. Our students have access to a variety of software, we are lacking in the amount of iPads and accessories needed to benefit all children on a daily basis. We have many students that have been affected by Harvey and many of these students don’t have access to computers and iPads at home.
By donating iPads and headphones to our project, you will not only help students stay engaged, but you will allow more opportunities for interventions and extensions.
iPads are used to practice math facts, spelling, increase skills in place value , increase vocabulary and reading and even speaking skills while children record themselves speaking and reading. Children don't realize how much they're learning, because they're focused on the fun! Our district has adopted phenomenal Math software for our students. Having a couple more Ipads in the classroom will allow more students to have access to this software on a daily basis.
