Technology is the Gift That Keeps Giving!!!

My students need a MacBook Pro laptop to be able to gain access to the Internet daily in order to take virtual field trips, watch CNN Student News and receive classroom text via PowerPoint.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Remi White's classroom raised $1,737

My Students

Every class begins by embarking on a Calm Classroom activity. Whether we are stretching, relaxing or breathing, we must start off by focusing our minds. Once we are focused, we are then ready to watch CNN Student News! This is how we stay current on the latest events!

I am fortunate enough to teach an awesome set of 7th and 8th graders in the inner city who are excited about the things that I am exposing them to.

They are extremely eager and opinionated! As for the school I work at, it has limited resources and therefore I am Internet-dependent since I do not have any textbooks or novels for Social Studies. Everything I do is based on the Internet while aligning it to Common Core in order to make sure the students are career and college ready!

My Project

I am fortunate to have an LCD projector, however my personal computer will not make it for the remainder of the school year hence why I am seeking a laptop computer because I do not have one at the school nor can they afford to purchase one for the classroom. All of the activities I have been creating this school year have been based around the Internet in order to align to Common Core and the CPS content strand. I am constantly seeking out primary sources that we can discuss and use in the classroom in addition to using secondary sources. I would also love to continue to present lessons using PowerPoint for the students since we are limited on paper at my school. I am also attempting to set up virtual field trips with Colonial Williamsburg in addition to other virtual field trips.

By donating to this project you will not only help the students but me as well.

You are giving the students an opportunity to experience Social Studies in a new and exciting way that aligns to Common Core. We will be able to experience the world by taking virtual field trips as well as staying current on events using CNN Student News daily. This project will allow me to present the material in PowerPoint since we are without a textbook/ novels and have a limited amount of paper.
