I remember the computer we had in my second grade room. It was old, huge, and we had to put a floppy disk in to play Oregon Trail! This was technology in my day. Today's students are amazing with technology. They amaze me with what they can do on the computers.
My students are amazing!
They surprise me every day with what they remember and how they envision their futures. My students are living in the technological age. They will all have to use computers in some aspect in their future careers. Our school has about 300 students and we are a small community school. I am a firm believer in making learning fun and interesting. I want my students to love learning!
My Project
Over the next few years, I hope to get five tablets in my classroom for students to use. Technology is such a huge part of their lives, why not bring it into the classroom. This Kindle Fire tablet will be used in small group and whole group lessons. I will also use it as a reward for students that are working hard. They can read their books of the tablet. I'll be able to download books quickly and easily, and students can also play reinforcing math games. My dream classroom would have a tablet for each student....but for now, I'll start with one.
Over the past few months, I have been thinking about what item would best benefit my students.
I had the students write opinion papers about what item they would like for the classroom. After reading their papers I chose the tablet because it was the overwhelming favorite. I hope that I can make their dream and my dream come true.
