The course focused on building strong Tier 1 literacy instruction using research-aligned practices and high-quality curriculum materials. One of the biggest takeaways for me was how to be even more intentional when planning whole-group lessons so that phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing all work together to support student learning.\r\n\r\nThe highlight of this experience was watching real classroom demonstration videos and then immediately applying those practices during my work with teachers. Seeing what strong, consistent instruction looks like in action made it easier to support teachers in refining their own lessons. One specific strategy I've already begun using is helping teachers plan clear, structured routines for phonics instruction that include explicit modeling, guided practice, and opportunities for students to apply their learning in connected text.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, I am now able to provide more focused and consistent guidance across first grade classrooms. Students are benefiting from stronger core instruction, clearer routines, and more opportunities to build foundational reading skills with confidence. Your generosity is making a real difference not just in one classroom, but across multiple classrooms and for many young readers. Thank you for investing in our students and in the power of strong instruction.","fullyFundedDate":1772403511315,"projectUrl":"project/strengthening-tier-1-reading-instruction/10118910/","projectTitle":"Strengthening Tier 1 Reading Instruction for First Grade Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Couto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9934663_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771974009766","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9934663"},{"teacherId":9934663,"projectId":9276762,"letterContent":"When the boxes of new materials arrived, my students could hardly wait to open them. The Elkonin boards and snap-and-build activities have quickly become a favorite part of our day. My first graders love being able to move sounds and letters around with their own hands, almost like solving a word puzzle. I've already seen how this has helped them feel more confident when they read and write, and it's given them a sense of pride when they can say, \"I built this word!\"\r\n\r\nThe decodable cards and phonics tools have been just as exciting. They make practice feel like play, and I've noticed a big change in how willing my students are to stick with it when the work feels tricky. Some of my readers who used to avoid practicing now ask to use the cards and show me the words they can build and read. It's been wonderful to see their perseverance grow along with their skills.\r\n\r\nThe book sets, especially The Bad Seed and Pig the Pug, have brought so much joy into our classroom. My students giggle, make connections, and cheer when it's their turn to read. One student who often hesitated to pick up a book now runs to grab The Bad Seed and proudly reads it with a partner. Seeing that spark has been one of the best parts of this project.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students. These resources are helping them not only build stronger reading skills, but also discover how much fun it is to be a reader.","fullyFundedDate":1749142960742,"projectUrl":"project/from-sounds-to-sentences-growing-confid/9276762/","projectTitle":"From Sounds to Sentences: Growing Confident Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Couto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9934663_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771974009766","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9934663"},{"teacherId":9571466,"projectId":8995360,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation.
