Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 4 and 5-year-old boys and girls who have had limited opportunities for creative learning and exploration. I am a TK/Kinder teacher. I work for a school in Los Angeles in a cool, little neighborhood that I myself, grew up in. Ironically, the positive changes in the neighborhood have not directly filtered down to our school. Although our neighborhood has seen an increase in market value, we are still a Title 1 school with most of our students qualifying for reduced-price or free lunch.
My Project
Through the use of the HP Chromebooks, our students will have access to educational sites in both Language Arts and Math, providing additional academic support.
Also, the students will learn how to safely use technology as a tool for learning and exploring new information they may be interested in.
For example, finding facts about a geographical place or animal they may be curious about. Finally, exposure to basic keyboarding skills is vital for their educational success.
This will be an excellent opportunity for teaching the students responsibility and taking care of school materials, as resources like these Chromebooks, are not easily attainable.
