My Students
My students live in a world where technology is integrated in all aspects of their lives, especially in the academic world! The use of technology is so common that it is hard to imagine not having access to it. This is the challenge our classroom faces this year.
My classroom is located in the inner city of Chicago.
I have 26 second graders that come from very diverse families. Our students speak over 40 different languages and come from all different types of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our vision for our students is to help them become college ready, be community leaders, as well as cultural ambassadors. I believe that all of the students are capable of achieving the vision our school has set forth! The school sets the tone that learning is important, but should be fun, exciting, and not to mention rigorous.
My Project
Our classroom currently does not have any technology to access throughout the day to enrich our learning. I want to start incorporating different types of technology to provide my students with the best educational experience possible. By having access to the Apple MacBook Air my students will be able to participate in computer based centers, complete various projects using the Internet and word documents, interact with our math curriculum online, complete Response to Intervention assessments. This laptop will also provide differentiation at many different levels. The possibilities are endless, but we need the technology to access all of this! Not only will it help them academically, but it allows them to become more and more tech savvy which is so important for this generation of children.
This project is the start of our classroom integrating technology into the daily routines that will make our learning environment successful.
Learning how to use technology will change my student's lives for the better because it will provide a rich academic experience and will prepare them for the future. We are always promoting career and college readiness and this is the route to go! Please help our classroom achieve college readiness!
