My students need an iPad with protective case to research informational articles and documentaries and two books to help students appreciate and understand each other.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a group of third grade students who are highly enthusiastic and eager to learn something new every single day!
My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles.
All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.
My Project
My students need an iPad with protective case and two books to help students appreciate and understand each other. I envision my students sharing an iPad to research informational articles and watch documentaries on various cultures and civil rights movements across the nation and then comparing and contrasting how these different cultures are alike/unlike their own. Now more than ever, it is essential that young people learn about tolerance and a global culture.
The California Common Core Standards call for a majority of expository (informational) reading and writing. Having my students read, study, and write about diversity and civil rights will serve a dual purpose. It will enhance their proficiency in understanding and synthesizing the text. My students will also learn that they are not the only culture that has values and beliefs that are unique.
My third grade students need an iPad to help them research, read, and write about how every person is equally important in our world and culture.
The texts "Ruby Bridges" and "Bullying in Schools" will be educational tools that my students can use to learn from and grow as people.
Technology is highly motivating for my students. My students will be eager to learn if they have special opportunities to use technology in the classroom.
