This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning I check in my second graders to see how they are feeling. They are very excited to back in the classroom.
I teach in a primarily immigrant and working-class neighborhood in Los Angeles.
My students come from supportive families who are involved and concerned. Some of my students are above grade level, some are on grade level, and some are struggling readers. Even with all this diversity, my second graders have one thing in common: they all love learning!
My Project
After having spent over a year in distance learning, my students deserve the best learning experience ever. Unfortunately, my current teacher laptop has served me well but is unable to keep up with my current needs. In order to engage my students I rely heavily on technology that works.
Having an Apple MacBook Pro will allow me to create documents, excel sheets, presentations, and PDFs for my students to facilitate their learning process.
For example, I enjoy creating slide shows for new vocabulary words in their Benchmark reader. These visuals make learning and understanding these words more memorable.
This new laptop will enable me to create and implement a range of curriculum as well as enable me to efficiently correspond with my parents and students.
It is imperative that the technology used during this period of instruction be high-functioning and accessible.
