My students are wonderful! They are so excited to learn. My goal is to help them reach their potential by making learning fun and making the learning process easier for them by incorporating technology into the classroom.
I work at a Title I school, which means that many of my students come from a low income socioeconomic status.
While there is some technology at our school, with over 1300 students there definitely is not enough. My students are hardworking, dedicated students. Many of the students I work with have learning disabilities and are not able to learn in the same way as their peers. With additional supports and technology, they will be able to achieve their goals.
My Project
I am requesting one MacBook and one iPad to be able to incorporate technology into their lives. They will use the MacBook and iPad to conduct research for different projects, type their published writing pieces and listen to books on the Internet. For students who have difficulty getting their ideas on paper, for many different reason, they will be able to type on both the iPad or the MacBook. In addition, many of the students are reading below grade level due to their disability; having this technology will allow them to be able to listen to books, while not feeling embarrassed about their reading ability.
These donations will help the students become great authors when publishing their writing pieces, it will allow them to research many different topics, increasing their knowledge in an exciting way, as well as allow them to take journeys through many different places when listening to books that they otherwise would never have been able to read.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
