Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like the first time you got a new gadget that you couldn't put down? Many of my students have not yet discovered technology that captures their imaginations, but they have not had the opportunity to work with an iPad.
We are a Kindergarten dual language immersion classroom at a public school in Connecticut.
Our students are learning to speak, read and write in English and Spanish. This is a wonderful program that creates bilingual learners in both languages. Our students are excited and motivated to become lifelong language learners.
Our students represent a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners. I work with students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments and students who benefit from small group interventions. My students need an iPad, protective case and adapter to project the iPad screen to the class to read, write and listen to stories on the iPad.
My Project
My students would definitely benefit from using an iPad in the classroom. This piece of technology will allow them to gain more practice with reading, writing and speaking. With a new iPad for my classroom, my students can have fun and at the same time expand their ability to read, write and speak. They will get to experience modern day technology. There is an App called Story Maker that will allow my students to write their own story and record it into the iPad. I can present the story to the class on the Smart Board via the cable that is included. The children's stories will be presented to the entire class.
Please help my students have access to technology through the use of an iPad.
It will help them learn the fundamentals of reading, writing and speaking. It will also help them reinforce the new Common Core through the use of other apps.
