My students attend an inner city school whose student body is diverse, both academically and socioeconomically. My classes have high percentages of both English Language Learners and Special Education students.
As technology becomes more and more prevalent in education, the achievement gap will increase for those who lack access.
For many of my students, science poses difficulty because of their ongoing language acquisition. For many more, language is not the issue; they struggle instead with reading deficits, processing issues, and lack of recall. Technology has programs that will help to reduce the existing deficits and increase language acquisition.
My Project
These Chrome Books will be used in various ways by my students. Students will learn how to access various programs including email, grading programs, online books, online simulations, audio books, online translators, content specific videos, and more.
Our students are growing up in a highly technological society and part of my job is to help them navigate this new world.
I want them to utilize the internet in positive and enriching ways. My students will also learn to decipher credible sources and appropriate use of the internet. Additionally, access to this technology will allow them to take ownership of their own learning, whether it is in school or at their homes.
