Technology in the Real World

My students need 2 Chromebooks for our classroom so they can do research and complete stock market trades for the Stock Market Challenge.

My Students

My 43 math/science students are academically gifted students who enjoy challenges and connections to the real world. Next year, they will have one-to-one technology with Chromebooks. I want to give them the opportunity to use technology this year to enhance their learning and strengthen their skills.

Our school focuses on the individual needs of our students so that we can identify their strengths and weaknesses to better assist them in their growth and help them to achieve success.

My students are unique individuals that enjoy learning and challenging themselves. They want to understand the benefit of what they are learning and how they can apply it to their own lives and the world around them. They care about each other, and work well in cooperative groups so that they can all achieve success.

My Project

At this time, my students are participating in the Stock Market Challenge. The challenge affords them the opportunity to learn about economics and how the Stock Market works. I have requested two Chromebooks for our classroom so my students can research different stocks, their prices, and complete trades for the challenge in our classroom. We can also use the Chromebooks to complete research for our science lessons, challenge activities for math centers, and to share our work with one another through the use of the Google Classroom.

Students love using technology!

Having two Chromebooks in our classroom would open up a wealth of opportunities to use technology more frequently. We can use the Chromebooks for the Stock Market Challenge, as a rotation for a math center, and to answer students' questions when they are wondering about a concept in our science lab. Students will benefit from quick access to technology on a daily basis.
