My students need a laptop and a laptop sleeve for our classroom.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Staab's classroom raised $655

My Students
I teach a 1st grade and 2nd grade multi-age classroom at an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!
In our classroom, we do not have a single computer for student use!
Our school has a computer lab with ancient desktop computers for classrooms to use, but we only get to sign up for half an hour each week. As my students are learning more about researching for projects, I am realizing how difficult it is to teach these valuable skills without a classroom computer. A computer is needed to be able to teach small group lessons or work with students individually.
Many of my students come from homes without computers. In our society, technology is such a integral part of communication, research, and education. I believe it is important to start educating our students in the primary grades, how to use technology for learning.
My Project
I am requesting a laptop and laptop sleeve for our classroom. Not only will students be using it to learn how to browse the web for research, but they will learn typing skills, how to write and publish stories, and to play educational math/reading games.
For developing readers, Tumble Books are a great tool for the young learners to follow along as it is being read to you. Our school also takes standardized testing on the computer and I believe that my 1st and 2nd graders will be able to perform better when they are more comfortable with using a computer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read all about this important project.
Please help close the digital gap that continues to widen in our schools. I want my students to be able to research, type, and publish stories and projects using the technology that many cannot afford at home. We appreciate your help!
