I teach in a Title I school where most of the children here receive free or reduced price lunch. Our school is located in the heart of Washington, DC. My students are inquistive, smart, creative, thoughtful and love to learn. To see their faces light up when they understand and apply a new concept being taught is a joy to witness. The students in my class our able to read books on their own or partner read. They are also able to play math games in small groups or work independently at a station. I want to create an environment were learning is positive, warm and intergrated with the use of technology. There are several programs that are available to us through the District of Columbia but due to the lack of technology in our classroom, we are not able to access all of the wonderful enhancing information that we could. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. With your help, each child in my classroom would have the opportunity to experience learning in cooperative groups, small group instruction, and learning targeted to their individual needs. They love to learn and this would update our learning to incorporate technology.
My Project
The supplies that I am requesting will be used immediately. Students will have access to Lexia, I ready, and other district wide computer learning programs that help students excel in reading and math.
During small group and work station time, students will have the opportunity to complete individualized instruction, small group projects, math and reading practice activities aligned to our curriculum and common core standards.
Students will simply have the opportunity to increase their literacy and math skills. They will also have the convenience of being able to use technology in the classroom.
My students love learning and this will help keep it interesting and fun!
